a city hippy wedding | invitation suite
I am actually shocked at how much fun I had creating our invitation suite. I had always looked at it as a dreaded project – how on earth was I supposed to design my ONE AND ONLY wedding invitation?! But, to my surprise, I created one draft of the suite and began production.
We are getting married in the dead of winter at a 100 year old hotel in Portland, OR. So, while it will be freezing outside, our guests will feel nice and cozy surrounded by plush burgundy velvet, gaudy vintage chandeliers and gilded walls. I definitely drew inspiration from our date and venue. I also knew I wanted to incorporate floral, because I am infamous for a floral addiction. We aren’t necessarily choosing a color scheme, but gold is definitely a recurring theme throughout the day-of styling, which I took as the perfect opportunity to incorporate gold foil in our invitations. Some folks are over the invitation enclosure, but, I for one, will never let it die. I find it so functional and I love how it can appear as a modern twist on the inner envelope.
