a city hippy wedding | getting ready
Wedding photos, by the talented Dylan & Sara Photography, are here! We are having a blast reliving our day through these photos. I am going to do a full wedding recap (mostly for myself to look back on) here, and break it up into a few categories with my thoughts & wedding planning advice. Follow along if you dare!
So, Morg and I are the luckiest winter bride & groom in Oregon. The day we got married just happened to be a record breaking January day for (warm) weather in Portland, OR! It was stunning — AND put everyone in just the best mood.
I have such great memories getting ready with my Mom and my bridesmaids. Everyone took such great care of me on my wedding day. They let me sleep in until 10am, had my Starbucks order ready and waiting when I arrived, my rockstar Mama had a giant basket full of hairspray and bobby pins — all things “in case of emergency” — AND fed us (a lot) the whole day! She also hand-embroidered a handkerchief that was my great-grandmother’s for me to use that day (cue the tears). She was the best M.O.B. a girl can ask for. I SWORE to everyone that I wouldn’t be one of those brides that just “forgets” to eat. Food was very important to me during wedding planning. But, once the day arrive, I was so anxious/emotional that it wasn’t that I was forgetting to eat, I just wasn’t hungry. It was freaky. Luckily, everyone kept me singing and dancing the whole day — they knew it was the only way to calm my (excited!!) nerves.
The above is by far one of my favorite detail shots from our day. Our wedding was kind of fully inspired by this vintage fur muff that I am carrying. My grandmother gave me this muff when my grandfather passed away a few years ago. She wore it in her wedding. Since that moment, I knew I would carry it on my wedding day in place of a bouquet. Since the moment I got engaged, I began hunting for vintage muff’s for the girls to carry. I was lucky enough to make it to ten (the number of bridesmaids) only about three weeks before the big day — it was a close one. Thank you endlessly to Kim of Swoon Floral Design for putting up with this vision and incorporating her gorgeous floral design in such a unique way. She even worked with me to incorporate a lace flower from my mother’s wedding dress, and a vintage brooch from my other grandmother into the design.
